Because the earliest few keys only require a few iterations of the lesson, and a couple rounds of the minigames. There are a few games you have to play, and when you beat enough minigames and pass the lesson, you can move forward and unlock the next keys to learn. It seems simple, and like a reasonable way to design an educational game. So, the basic premise of type to learn is that you learn the hand position, and starting from just a few keys, you develop your typing skills.
